Samantha’s Story

“My path to where I am now is far from linear—but in hindsight, it all makes sense”

As a child, I struggled with athletics but loved stretching into different shapes. When my mother told me, “That’s yoga,” I knew it was my thing. In middle school, a drama club director introduced me to formal yoga moves, combining two passions—movement and theatre.

In college, yoga studios were rare in Indiana, so I learned from books and magazines. After graduation, my theatre career led me to New Orleans, where I taught my first yoga class in 2007. Later, I was accepted into an MFA program at Rutgers but pivoted to medicine instead, spending three years in pre-med courses to become a physician assistant. Yet, my path shifted again.

During this time, I completed yoga teacher training, taught modern postural yoga, and worked as an ABA therapist for children on the autism spectrum—eventually pursuing graduate coursework in behavior analysis. But my calling lay elsewhere.

In my mid-30s, I developed pelvic organ prolapse—despite never having had children. My hypermobility and years of unsustainable movement had taken a toll. It was a dark, isolating time, but through research and trial and error, I found ways to manage my symptoms.

“In 2017, everything changed.”

An Airbnb guest introduced me to Bowspring. Skeptical at first, I gave it a try for a day. By the end of that day, I felt relief—something I hadn’t experienced in years. My pelvic floor heaviness and low back pain lifted. I knew I had to learn more.

Bowspring wasn’t easy—it challenged me physically and emotionally, forcing me to rethink everything I knew. But I kept going. Eventually, my pelvic floor issues resolved. More than that, I gained confidence, presence, and a new way of being.

That transformation led me to start a business sharing this healing system. I became passionate about how Bowspring supports pregnancy, smoother deliveries, and postpartum recovery. I also discovered its benefits for newborns—helping babies release oral ties and spinal restrictions for more comfort and better breastfeeding.

“This path led me to train with elder midwife Whapio, becoming a certified doula specializing in physiological birth.”

Now, I assist families seeking an aligned, intuitive, and empowered birthing experience.

My background in theatre helps me create engaging classes, retreats, and events. My medical studies deepen my understanding of anatomy and movement. My behavior analysis experience allows me to teach in a way that truly helps people integrate lasting change.
